In February 2006 Stromness Library celebrated a century of service to the people of Stromness. The Library has a wide range of fiction and non-fiction titles available for loan as well as books on tape, music CDs and a well stocked children's section. In addition to the lending stock there is also a reference collection, a selection of local and national newspapers and magazines, and free public internet access. New members and visitors are warmly welcomed.

For this exhibition, the Peedie Gallery was based at the Orkney
Museum in Kirkwall. The Peedie Gallery was sited within an empty water tank
in a
small
cupboard
towards the top of the 1820 large staircase in the Museum.

The old water tank cupboard in the Orkney Museum
The Orkney Museum is the principal museum of Orkney life, which houses extensive archaeological and social history collections in a fine town house (Tankerness House) dating from the 16th Century.
