Welcome to Stonehouse Music
Welcome to the home page of Liz Law and Terry Conway. We sing and play Northumbrian music; both traditional north-eastern songs and songs we have written.

Terry is a well-known singer and songwriter in North East England. He often accompanies himself on guitar, but is also a fine unaccompanied singer. Liz accompanies Terry on Appalachian dulcimer, sometimes known as the mountain dulcimer, and occasionally, on hammer dulcimer. She has also been known to put occasional harmonies to the choruses of some songs.

Also in our repertoire are English and Scottish traditional ballads, Irish songs, and other traditional songs, many with a historical subject. We have taken commissions to write songs for historical occasions; in 2004 we wrote a song to commemorate the Hexham Riot of 1761.

Over the past few years, we have learned that Terry's songs are now being sung all over the world. His song Fareweel Regality, first recorded on Kathryn Tickell's "Northumbrian Collection" CD has been recorded by Carole and Roger Fyfe in Australia, on their CD "Turtles on the Beach".
Fraser Union, a Canadian band, have re-released their 1991 record on CD "Hello Stranger", which includes Terry's song Walls of Troy, originally recorded by the House Band and later taken up by a Californian band "After the Rain". The Ballad of Erwin Rommel has been sung over the last year in the USA, by Louis Killen. It can be found on our CD "Premier".

At present we are working on our second CD. We expect to complete it this year. Watch this space for news of its release.
