My work is built around memory of place rather than depiction or illustration. Orkneys changing light, its unique landscapes, its elemental changes coupled with the representation of grassy banks, of water, of reflective skies and outlines of solid ground: These are all factors that are considered when working on each painting of place. These ever-changeable attributes allow me to see each 'place' differently than before: which in turn gives me the opportunity to reconfigure a landscape each time I create a work.
