After a number of years dismissing collage, I read an interview with Lee Krasner about how she started collaging. Her early collages were produced from torn up works on paper - ones with which she was dissatisfied. This inspired me to re-appraise works of my own which I had dismissed and rather than throw them out, I began to tear them up and keep the pieces in bags. Since then, most of my collages are made from older pieces of work.
