(1988, 72 minutes)

* No Direction Home: Bob Dylan
(2005, 207 minutes)
Director: Martin Scorsese

* The Source
(1998, 89 minutes)
Director: Chuck Workman
Traces the Beats from the meeting of Allen Ginsberg (John Turturro) and Jack Kerouac (Johnny Depp) at Columbia University in 1944 to the deaths of Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs (Dennis Hopper) in 1997. Turturro, Depp, and Hopper provide dramatic interpretations of the work of these three writers, and, through documentary footage, the film chronicles their friendships, their arrival into American consciousness, their travels, frequent parodies, Kerouac's death, and Ginsberg's politicization. Their movement connects with bebop, John Cage's music, abstract expressionism, and living theater.
Saturday, December 9, 2 PM

Films are free with Museum admission; tickets are available at the Admission Desk on the day of the screening. Advance reservation for Morgan Members only: 212.685.0008, ext. 560.
