Filming the Dylan story in Quebec

Thanks to rock photographer Lawrence Kirsch who has been sending me cuttings from his local paper, the Montreal Gazette, covering the filming of I’m Not There, the Dylan biopic, in Rawdon in the Lawrentians.

Todd Haynes’s film will have Richard Gere as one of six actors playing an “incarnation of Dylan”. Cate Blanchett will play another Dylan-like character…

The movie promises to be a serious attempt to capture Dylan’s elusive genius on celluloid – the producers have, according to the Gazette, been granted the rights to Dylan’s life story and his music. There will be no Dylan appearances, or footage, however.

Filming is set to continue in the Montreal area until early October.
