Discovering Desire
Reflecting the changing Dylan audience, with successive generations of listeners discovering the work, Dylan Daily tries to address the interests of newer fans, as well as those who’ve been listening since the release of Freewheelin’ changed popular music forever.
Reader Mary Wogan recently discovered Desire:
“Adding to my Dylan collection, I recently got Desire, the 1975 album. I tend to buy Dylan CDs by intuition. I’ve got all the must-haves like: The Freewheelin’, Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde, and Nashville Skyline. And even Hard Rain and the very folkie Good As I Been To You.
“I never fail to find a song, or usually five, on these albums that I love, that I really love.
“Desire is an exotic excursion into wide-ranging topics. From its gypsy Dylan cover to the songs inside that are mesmerizing, like One More Cup of Coffee, Sara, Black Diamond Bay and Romance in Durango, I think it’s worth a good look and listen. Some of the songs I could live without, like Hurricane and Mozambique, but overall this album has magic sprinkled through it.
“I wonder what other Dylan fans think?”
