Tour of 2006: encore
Two shows! Two measly shows! Is that any way to behave in a rock n roll marketplace?
The 2006 tour prospects for the UK faithful might be bleak, but Dylan Daily readers in more favoured parts are exulting at what’s in store for them…
Mark Stevens, in California, writes:
“Subterranean Venue Blues (or: Stuck Inside the Cowshed with the Theater Blues Agin')!
“Sorry to hear you folks over there only got two shows, in less than "atmospheric" places. We're getting the same sorts of venues in Northern California: I've been referring to the Santa Rosa Grace Pavilion as a pig barn (it's actually a steel Quonset hut, so much for hearing anything resembling bass...maybe Bob will do some hog-calling), and the Stockton arena was built (just last year) for Rodeos and Hockey. I'll be posting reviews at boblinks if you need a full report.
“I've given up hope of hearing any new songs, as it seems Columbia no longer has time to press and distribute before the tour begins, but would love to be surprised.
“Hopefully you'll get a return visit late this year or early next in someplace nice.”
Meanwhile, in Ireland, Mary Wogan enthuses:
“I got tickets for Dylan in Kilkenny. Can’t wait. I got the dearest seats, so I hope to get a good look at him!"
Jealous? Moi?
Naah – delighted, more like, that others are getting a good crack of the whip this time around.
