More on: Gospel
Thanks to Tom Townsend:
“I hope that I'm not the only one who thinks this, but to place his Gospel style as one of Dylan’s greatest periods is a bit of an exaggeration.
“It would be true to say that there are certainly great songs that are well worth the listen (Every Grain of Sand is a piece of poetic brilliance), but the instrumental parts are just not up to scratch, nor are the topics on which most of the songs are based.
“I personally like the Shot of Love album and, although it’s a great work of music, it can never be rated along some of his earlier, and more influential work. I doubt there is a single person who reads this page that would consider any of the three Gospel albums as one of Dylan’s greats.”
