Gospel Dylan again
Martin Cowan writes:
Just a quick note to say that your appraisal of Dylan's so-called "gospel" years is a little harsh. As I recall, when "Slow Train Coming" was released, it was very well received, and I particularly remember a positive full-page review in the NME at the time.
In those days if you lived in London you could tune in to the hit line top 10 on Capital Radio in the early evening where listeners did a daily phone-in to vote for current singles. "Precious Angel" rode high in the top 10 for some weeks, and so was played on the radio on a daily basis. And of course Dylan received a Grammy for "Gotta Serve Somebody." I for one am very much looking forward to some of the live recordings from this very fruitful era being given an official release as part of the Bootleg Series.
