Dylan in the mainstream
Thanks to Martin Cowan for his comments on Dylan in the mainstream:
“Further to your ‘Mainstream Dylan’ thoughts: while I agree that it's nice to see such Bob-related exposure, much of it is focussed on his work from the 1960s, and perhaps gives the impression to the uninitiated that he has been artistically washed up since then. “As those of us who have been following him during the ‘cult’ years know, this is far from the case - how many other artists have delivered work of the stature of "Planet Waves", "Blood on the Tracks", "Desire", "Street-Legal", "Oh Mercy", "Under the Red Sky", "Time out of Mind", "Love and Theft" etc? Dylan would be a titan purely on the back of these releases without the great work from the ‘60s. “Now, how about getting Sony to release the Hard Rain TV special on DVD, along with a remastered and expanded CD which includes all of the missing songs from the video? That really would be something.”
