Iconic new Dylan photo collections

There’s been a confusing array of iconic new Dylan photo collections in recent months. Here’s a quick summary of what’s recently started to appear in London bookshops:

* Cohen, J. Young Bob: John Cohen’s early photographs of Bob Dylan. Powerhouse Books. c£19.

* Feinstein, Barry et al. Early Dylan: photographs of Bob Dylan by Barry Feinstein, Daniel Kramer and Jim Marshall. NY, Bullfinch Press, pbk, £15.

* Gilbert, D.R. Forever Young: photographs of Bob Dylan. Text by Dave Marsh 2005, Da Capo Press, 160pp, hbk, £20. (75+ pics, from a week in Woodstock, Greenwich Village and Newport Folk Festival for Look mag, but never published. Shrink wrapped, inc 4 @ 8”x10” prints.)

* Kramer, Daniel. Bob Dylan: A Portrait Of The Artist’s Early Years, £13, Plexus Books, London, pbk.

Collectors will want them all. But if you only wish to buy one, my choice would be the Feinstein compendium – it has some great images by several leading snappers.
