Downloading Dylan: Under The Red Sky
Julian Birch writes: “I’m still discovering the Dylan catalogue. There seems to be split of opinion on Under The Red Sky: I’d be grateful for guidance from Dylan Daily readers on whether any tracks are worth downloading”.
Readers’ reactions to Julian’s request are warmly invited.
My own take is this. Under The Red Sky does indeed split the fan base. I think it’s a moderately engaging album, with several highlights. I prefer to listen to Dylan albums, even the weaker titles, as whole albums, and you can often buy this CD for £4.99; the back cover photo - Dylan the middle-aged slacker - is worth £5 of anyone's money.
But, if forced to select tracks, either as downloads (if they're available) or as part of a compilation tape for the car, I’d choose:
* Under the Red Sky * T.V Talkin’ Song * God Knows * Handy Dandy * Cat’s in the Well.
