London, Sunday: “vintage Bob”
Art Dodds supplies a coda to his review of last night’s show:
“A great show - a string of classics - good sound too, if a little loud in places - earplugs recommended if you’re near the front!
“Queen Jane - superb - as were D Row, Black Coat etc. We got vintage Bob; he plays keyboard throughout. He was enjoying it, with flashes of 1965 in pace and phrasing. Band are excellent: clearly not just supporting Bob; he was integrated into the band, positioned further back on stage, at right angles to the audience, venturing to the front to do a couple of harmonica solos.
”He looked comfortable, laughing at times. The ending, with the band standing still, to rapturous applause, was classic: Bob holds up two harmonicas in a V sign, and a "thumbs up" with the other hand. No doubt a hidden message there, to be unravelled.”
