Dylan’s first three UK shows: all you need to know, in ten seconds
This week’s three UK gigs - Nottingham, Manchester and Glasgow – have witnessed:
* Dylan in great voice, performing with vigour;
* the band providing a different kind of sound, with unusually rich variation; and
* first-rate acoustics.
While performing a standard length 16 song show, Dylan has covered no fewer than 37 different tunes. Deeply impressive, Bob.
The show is structured round five epic compositions which have appeared in all three gigs: Maggie’s Farm; Highway 61 Revisited; Summer Days; Like A Rolling Stone, and All Along The Watchtower.
The remainder of each set is made up of songs which are nearly all unique to that show, including classics like She Belongs To Me, Long Black Coat, High Water and Every Grain Of Sand.
The Dylan Daily will be reporting tonight’s Birmingham show, and next week’s London quintet, starting with Sunday night, in detail.
