Goldilocks is to be a family portrait of sorts, and will touch
on the themes of mortality, consequence, family identity and regeneration – themes
that have dominated all our collaborative work to date.
The project will
be presented as work in progress, alongside our most recent
project Wedded in
an open studio event in June 2006, coinciding with the St.
Magnus Festival, and will be exhibited in the exhibition
room of Stromness Library in
September 2006 as part of the 16th Orkney International
Science Festival.
Goldilocks will have as its starting
point a game of Consequences, to be played
by ourselves and our three children, Josh (13), Theo (10)
and Erlend (8), all of whom have been active contributors
to other Christil Trumpet
projects such as Wave and Wedded and are keen to be involved
with this project from the outset. As in any game of
Consequences we will each
have a piece of paper and will draw a head, fold it over
and pass it on to the next player to draw the next body
part. This will continue
until five complete images/family portraits have been
created. We plan to create five paintings based on the
drawings,
the pair of us working
on canvases each the height and width of a family member.
